Abstrakt: The article discusses the court case Tedrick v. Community Resource Center Inc., wherein the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that an outpatient mental health treatment facility do not have a duty to warn a patient's wife about his dangerousness. It presents facts about the hospitalization of Richard Street at Doctors Hospital in Springfield. The court opined that the provider's duty of care extends only to the patient. Analysis shows the failure of the court to cite state laws describing the duty of mental health professionals to warn third parties.
