The article focuses on guitarists Agustin Barrios and Andrés Segovia. It cites Segovia's refusal to play the works of Barrios since he is focused on the problem of generating a new repertoire. Insights from musicologist Angelo Gilardino on the orientation and motivation of Segovia behind the new repertoire are presented. It notes the first meeting between Barrios and Segovia after a concert in 1921, where Segovia played the works of Barrios and asked for a copy of "La Catedral." |
