The article presents a study on the visual processing of Chinese characters and images in the left midfusiform gyrus with the use of magnetic resonance imaging. After measurement of the characters and images visual processing of two female and six male right-handed students, the bilateral midfusiform gyrus were shown to be significantly activated by picture-naming and verb generation tasks, with the left midfusiform gyrus being activated. It is concluded that the latter plays a general role in characters and images visual processing. |
