Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examined nicotinic receptor regulation on free calcium levels following facial nerve injury. A rat model of facial nerve injury was created. The nicotinic receptor alpha 4 beta 2 subtype raised free calcium levels following facial nerve injury through the promotion of calcium transmembrane influx. L-type voltage-gated calcium channel-mediated influx of calcium ions reportedly played a significant part in promoting calcium transmembrane influx.
