The article discusses the short Sufi theological text Kitāb al-isrā al-maqām al-asrā, written by Arab Andalusian Sufi mystic and philosopher Ibn 'Arabī, and its place within the thought and theology of Ibn 'Arabī. Topics include Ibn Arabi's thought on the prophet Mohamad's night journey, the Isra, and the prophet's ascent to heaven, the miraj; an analysis of the text, divided into sections, and the writing style and word choices of the author; and the representations of communication with God presented in the text. |
