| Abstrakt: | The article reports on a conference held in Thurnau, Germany on November 19-21, 2009 on the subject of motion in the performing arts. Topics discussed at the conference focused on the relations between visual and musical movement, choreographed and animated performances of works by composer Johann Sebastian Bach, and the role of gesture in composer Paul Hindemith's opera "Cardillac." Presentations were given by musicologists including Camilla Bork, Janice Ross, and Melanie Fritsch. |
