Abstrakt: The article focuses on documents related to territorial principalities from the duché de Basse-Lotharingie to the duché de Brabant from the 11th to the 13th centuries. The authors examine whether clergymen connected to Hausklöster (monasteries) were in charge of drafting documents strongly reflecting princely ideology with a particular focus on the duché (duchy) de Brabant, an ancient duchy located between the Netherlands and Belgium. Topics include the dukes of Brabant Godefroid I, Godefroid II, and Godefroid III and ducal power in Lotharingia during the 11th century. The authors conclude by discussing some of the topics revealed in ducal documents including castles, seals, entourage, Hausklöster, and notaries and Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI.
