The article presents a study on the composting of poultry waste with sugarcane top and coirpith waste. The researchers performed the dead birds composting experiment at the Department of Livestock Production and Management of the Veterinary College and Research Institute in Namakkal, India. They used several selective media including Salmonella Shigella agar for Salmonella, MacConkey agar for total coliform and nutrient agar for total bacterial count. They found that the Salmonella count did not significantly differ between various mixtures of treatment. |
