The article presents information concerning the 2011 session of the external teacher examination certificat d'aptitude au professorat de l'enseignement du second degré (CAPES), which serves as a recruiting tool for the hiring of middle school and high school history and geography teachers in France. It presents introductory notes concerning questions added to the examination including French cities and their role in urbanization, demographics, social economy, and geopolitics and the creation of art and art patronage in France and Italy from the 14th to the 18th centuries. |
