Abstrakt: The article discusses the reconstruction of the Borman Expressway from Gary, Indiana to the Illinois state line. According to the author, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) saw the need for major improvements to the highway system and approved the reconstruction project. The author notes that Gary's location at the southern tip of Lake Michigan contributes to its soft soils and poses a challenge for road projects. To deal with this problem, the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recommended the use of geofoam as a soil stabilizer.
