Abstrakt: The article focuses on politically- and socially-engaged scholars who work outside the academy on the conventional views and approaches they followed to research, teaching and outreach. It highlights the crises of modernity, growing social and economic inequality, and ecological disruption, which depicts complex interconnected nature of peoples' relationships. It informs that investigators of rural social life depict everyday realities of rural peoples' lives who have been marginalized.
