The article discusses the relationship between armed forces and private security companies, exploring the ways in which governments manage mercenary groups during military operations. It describes the the private security company Blackwater and the fatal shooting of 17 Iraqis by mercenary forces. The article explores the rising influence of private security companies in military operations and war work, the rejection of civilian influence by U.S. military authorities, and political and scientific discussions regarding the good governance and best practices for civilian participation in security management. |
