The article focuses on the cultural and group identities of Jewish Mexican people. The author describes how the Jewish people of Mexico have preserved their religious and cultural traditions while acquiring elements of Mexico's nationalism, ideology and culture as well. The study centers on Jewish people in Mexico from their initial immigration at the beginning of the 20th century until the time of the article's publication in 2010. The development of the Jewish identity in Mexico is analyzed and the effects of the Jewish presence in that country discussed, including social, economic and political aspects. |
