Abstrakt: The article describes the echo sounder, a seismic system that measures the depth to the ocean floor, penetrates the overlying sediments and detects some internal structure. It describes the 3.5 kilohertz (kHz) 3010 MP transceiver and notes that the data are recorded using Geo-Trace 8.4 software. It notes that the echo sounder could be used for establishing depth of the ocean floor, recognizing different types of topography on the ocean floor, and identifying regions without sedimentary cover where it might be possible to dredge the underlying basement.
