The article describes a parasitic species of acanthocephalans, Heterosentis holospinus, that was collected from the striped eel catfish in Halong Bay, Vietnam. Specimens of striped eel catfish were examined for parasites, and 13 were found infected with 83 specimens of Heterosentis. H. holospinus is identified to have a trunk entirely filled with spines and an anterior trunk cone free of spines. Its characteristics are compared with those of the other species of Heterosentis. |
