There are different types of defects which occur in the carpets manufactured by different methods. Indian carpet industry is facing a lot of problems related to carpet defects from a long time. Due to such defects, huge amount of orders are either rejected or the price of the carpet becomes lower than the actual price. The present paper endeavours to throw some light on various kinds of hand made as well as machine made carpet defects and their probable causes. In this paper, mainly carpet manufacturing defects which are of two types: visible defects & latent defects and the defects occurring in carpets after installation; are covered.
