The intent of this study is to explore whether or not online political conversation played a role in electoral participation among young people between the ages of 18 and 29. The paper starts at revisiting the debates on whether everyday political conversation is the soul of democracy. Then, we move ordinary political conversation to the online environment, and try to systematically incorporate different types of online discussion by treating them as dialogic contribution and dialogic exposure. Findings from previous empirical studies lead us to gather data right after the 2008 presidential election.
