The article describes the use of geosynthetic materials like geogrids, geotextiles and geocells in reinforcing soil. It stresses that this technology, combined with engineering techniques, produced a cost-efficient, safe and high-quality support structure to a bridge connecting Nuevo Veracruz with the Xalapa-Veracruz Highway in Veracruz City, Mexico. It also notes that ML Ingenieria received the Outstanding Acheivement Award at the 2010 International Achievement Award for Geosynthetics for its use of geosynthetics instead of steel and concrete. |
