The article examines how leadership emerges during a period of punctuated equilibrium using a naturalistic decision making framework in the U.S. The study shows that instinct, compassion and responsibility are the motivating factors for leadership emergence that appeared in close proximity of the change event. It emphasizes that the field of outdoor or wilderness leadership training is the best place to foster and observe leadership emergence. |
