Abstrakt: The inherent relationship between party politics and democratization appears that the development of party politics keeps in pace with the enhancement of democratization. During Kemalist era, Republican People's Party as the only legitimate Party stood at the helm of the state and the party politics had constituted the crucial footstone of autocracy as well as totalitarianism. After the World War II, Turkey's democratization gradually came into being that single - party politics was replaced by multi - patty politics as a powerful lever to accelerate democratization and to extend the participation in politics of the populace. During the late 20th century, the power struggles between Islamic parties and secular parties mostly reflected the historical tendency of Republic of Turkey's pluralism of political practice along with its democratization of political system.
