The article describes the case of a 48-year-old woman with floaters in the left eye who developed retinoblastoma. Results of cytologic test of the vitrectomy sample revealed a malignant neoplasm with neuroendocrine differentiation, suspicious for carcinoid tumor. She later developed a macula-off retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy. She received systemic chemotherapy of vincristine, carboplatin and etoposide. The article notes that retinoblastoma usually affects children. |
