Abstrakt: The article discusses the Ottoman Empire's/Turkey's role in European international health conferences throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. The Ottoman Empire's establishment of a Sanitary Council to deal with issues surrounding public health and the spread of epidemics is explained by the author. These International Sanitary Conferences largely focused on isolation and quarantine methods for preventing the spread of cholera and the plague. Quarantine efforts were mainly applied to port towns, which fostered the spread of cholera.
