| Abstrakt: | The article focuses on Pavement Coatings Technology Council (PCTC)-sponsored research that is defending the use of refined tar-based sealants. Studies on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in Austin, Texas in 2005 led to regulatory challenges and bans on sealants that PCTC sponsored a new study and asked the writer of the book on PAH forensics to use the forensic methods on refined tar-based sealants. Conclusions of the PCTC-sponsored study indicated that sealants are not the main source of PAHs in urban sediments. |
