Abstrakt: The article presents a study on the dynamics of autotrophic and heterotrophic activity in first year sea ice found in Malene Bight, Nuuk, Greenland. For the study, researchers measured the first-year landfast sea ice from February 1 to April 14, 2008. The standard incubations they conducted revealed that the yearly succession followed a distinctive pattern which was a low, nearly balancing heterotrophic and autotrophic activity during February and March. During the same period, they noted that the oxygen level in the bag incubations remained constant.
