The article discusses the domestic wildlife harvesting research program implemented by the Nunatsiavut government of Labrador. The government has focused on the social dimensions of wildlife harvesting and the role that wildfoods play in preserving the social, cultural and economic continuity of Nunatsiavut communities. A baseline of information has been established that is sensitive to community-level participation and harvest variability and will empower the Nunatsiavut government to monitor changes in community harvesting patterns. |
