This article discusses a study on the postnatal growth and estimated age of Horsfield's leaf-nosed bat Hipposideros larvatus. The study examined the patterns of postnatal growth and development in the length of the animal's forearm, body mass and length of the total gap of the fourth metacarpal-phalangeal joint. It showed linear patterns of growth in the length of the forearm and body mass. It also showed two linear regression equations for age estimation from length of the forearm and the length of the total epiphyseal gap. |
