Abstrakt: On the basis of analyzing historical records and legends, this article challenges the point of view by such scholars as Tran Van Giap, Nguyen Lang, Le Van Quan and Ha Van Tan, who believed that Renown Doctor Tue Tinh lived during the period of Restored Le (16th-17th centuries). This article argues that Tue Tinh -- real name was Nguyen Ba Tinh -- was a son of Mr. Nguyen Cong Vy and Mrs. Hoang Thi Ngoc. He lived in the Tran dynasty and under the reign of Emperor Tran Du Tong. In 1374 he passed the exams and gained the honorable title of Hoang Giap at the age of 45. In 1384, at the age of 55, he joined the tributary delegates to the Chinese Ming Court. The Minh invited him to work in the Royal Medical House. He died in China but the date of his death remains unknown. He was the first Vietnamese doctor that produced medical books, which contributed greatly to evolution of the national history. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
