The article discusses the social, economic and political conditions in Paraguay after the election of President Fernando Lugo. The author makes reference to the social conflict between the agricultural industry's business interests and the rural poor's push for agrarian reform. He also cites issues such as the safety of the population, tensions between the various branches of the Paraguayan democratic government and the progress made concerning electoral promises made during the election campaign. |
