Abstrakt: The article presents a case study on the changes in the consumer market of India since its independence in 1947. It states that due to the capital-labour substitution and anti-poverty measures, India experienced the decrease in poverty in the late 1970s and 1980s. It mentions that the Indian government enforced restrictions for business enterprises in 1969 and for foreign investments in 1973. It adds that India is being considered by some researchers to have economic independence since 1991.
