Abstrakt: For several years there has been discussion about the effectiveness of Friday classes in curbing Thursday night alcohol consumption among college students. The purpose of this study is to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention designed to decrease Thursday night consumption by increasing the frequency of Friday examinations and having a more rigorous attendance policy. Three faculty, six introductory courses, and 79 students participated in the Fall 2007 at Eastern Connecticut State University. Half of the classes served as a control, and half received the treatment. Control classes had no Friday quizzes/exams, and no attendance policy. Treatment classes had ten quizzes/exams on Fridays, and a strict attendance policy. Students were surveyed about their alcohol consumption at the beginning and end of the semester. Students in the treatment group binged and consumed significantly less alcohol. Students who are tested more aggressively (every Friday) may drink and binge less on Thursday nights. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
