Abstrakt: The article focuses on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPRD), that was negotiated by the Ad Hoc Committee. It states that the Committee was successful in drafting the treaty, with its chair from New Zealand, Ambassador Don Mackay. It notes that failure to ratify the CRPD calls into question the standing of Canada as a global leader on the human rights of people with disabilities. Canada was a leader in the negotiations that led to the treaty.
