The article analyzes the meaning of the words socialism and socialist in the context of the perception that U.S. President Barack Obama is a socialist. It says that socialism has been associated to the Democrats as it advocates distribution of wealth and that liberalism is associated to the Republicans. It analyzes why many Americans are not comfortable with the word socialism and why the author contends that Obama and social democratic leaders share the same outlook. |
