Abstrakt: The article discusses the introduction of zebra mussels to Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland, which were discovered there in November 2005, prompting research into the size of the population and how far it had stretched throughout Lough Neagh. Lough Neagh is the largest freshwater lake in Northern Ireland and is therefore an important area in the eel fishery industry, which is threatened because of the zebra mussels. The spawning of zebra mussels is also considered.
