This article deals with issues and news related to the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA). The annual conference of the GAPNA will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico from September 22-25, 2010 with Jenney Chin-Hanson as keynote speaker. It notes the conflict between U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency regulations and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines concerning the handling of medications. It cites polypharmacy as one of the factors affecting nutritional intake among nursing home residents. |
