The article presents an examination of the history of entrepreneurship in India. It discusses the type of entrepreneurship that existed during 16th and 17th century pre-colonial British rule, it examines the exploitation that occurred under British colonial rule, it explores how the country was left void of entrepreneurship at the time of independence and discusses how the country moved to recover from the economic condition it was left in when British colonial rule ended. It discusses the role the government played in promoting economic growth and explores how liberalization, privatization and globalization have affected India's economy and the level of entrepreneurial activity in the country. |
