The article features 80-year-old plantsman Ted Biernacki as he shares his passion for experimenting with and nurturing plants in his Ted's Greenhouse in Tinley Park, Illinois. The Land Office landscape designer Vicki Nowicki describes Biernacki as one horticulturist who readily doles advice to both staff and customers. Along with his son Dan, Biernacki has developed a stable of plants including 30 types of vegetables, 45 herbs, 200 perennials, and 260 species of annuals. The Chicago Flower and Garden Show has displayed many of his Chester the Cactus. |
