Abstrakt:	An essay is presented on the current trends in South African theatre. It recognizes the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) contribution to the current trend of the republic's theatre. It looks at the different types of truth, depicts a state of violence and explores several case studies which analyze the written and performance texts of several dramas. It discusses the South African body as a place of violence and outlines some vocabulary for torture and abuse of public reenactments.
