Abstrakt: The article examines the technique for obtaining satisfactory quantities of whole unstimulated saliva for cytologic, microbiologic and viral evaluation in pediatric HIV infection. In 89% of attempts, collection of whole unstimulated saliva in HIV-seropositive and seronegative children was successful. The study also pointed certain differences between HIV-seropositive and HIV-seronegative children with respect to bacteria organisms in the saliva.
