The article analyzes the establishment and operation of French automobile manufacturer Renault in Spain during the first half of the 20th century. It explains that Renault established sales operations in Spain under the name Sociedad Anónima Española de Automóviles Renault (SAEAR) in 1908 and a car manufacturing plant under the name Fabricación de Automóviles, S.A. (FASA) in 1951. The article studies Renault's consolidation into a multinational corporation, which enabled it to expand into Spain, as well as challenges that the company faced, including unfavorable economic conditions during the 1930s, the weak internal financial structure of SAEAR, and the international embargo of Spain during the 1940s. |
