The article highlights the OPEN CELL SHEET PILE wall, which makes use of hoop tension of steel to keep the soil behind just like a circular flat sheet pile cell. It focuses on the background of the OPEN CELL SHEET PILE system, which was developed, tested and patented in the 1980s by PND Engineers. It discusses the use of the PLAXIS finite element modeling in order to come up with the deflection behavior of the sheet piles. It presents the creation of a failure criteria, which was hard to come out with given the properties of some materials used. |
