The article provides information on cicatricial alopecia or scarring alopecia. Scarring alopecia is the malfunction of the pilosebaceous gland that leads to permanent hair loss and this condition is not hereditary or contagious. Medical therapies for the cicatricial alopecia are classified into those that are more selective for the lymphocytic group and the neutrophilic group. Also included are approach to the patient, goals of treatment and outcome measures, and clinical descriptions. |
