Abstrakt: | The article presents a study which examines the development of a swine respiratory disease linked to swine influenza A (H1N2) virus in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. For the study, researchers gathered samples from the lung and tonsil tissues and nasal swab of a feeder pig which showed clinical signs of swine influenza (SI). They characterized the severe infection and subsequent damage as the outcome of the combined infection of swine influenza virus (SIV) and bacteria. They concluded that the virus has introduced an independent stable lineage and is involved in the infection of pig populations. |
