The article focuses on a study which isolated a velogenic Newcastle disease virus (NDC) strain currently found in Indonesia to establish a domestic reference virus for future pathological and molecular epidemiological studies. The chicken used in the study was suspected to have contracted Newcastle disease (ND) in a local outbreak in Bali, Indonesia. External examination revealed that the carcass has signs of emaciation and diarrhea, with greenish feces surrounding the cloaca. The isolate was found to belong to genotype VII based on the phylogenetic analysis on the F gene nucleotide sequence. |
