The article reports on a study that examined the role of aerobic bacterial flora in canine metritis in 25 bitches with foul smelling vaginal discharge and hard uterus in a veterinary college hospital in Bangalore, India. Thirty-seven isolates were taken from the bitches and Gram negative bacteria made up 54.05 percent of them. The major Gram negative isolates were Escherichia coli and Protius. The major Gram positive isolates were Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. |
