An interview with author Elizabeth Strout is presented. When asked about what she was doing for 40 years from her first short story publication to her first novel publication, she says she was writing, running her family, and teaching part time. She states that she did not want to tell people that she was writing because they tend to look at her with such embarrassment. She mentions that her mother wanted to be a writer and encouraged her to write. |
