Abstrakt: The article offers information on African American sculptor Mel Edwards and presents an analysis of his works. Edwards was born in Houston, Texas in 1937 and moved to Los Angeles, California to study art. Edwards' sculptures are made from materials such as iron bars, chains, hooks, and tools. Critics assert that the "Lynch Fragments" series, which features various steel sculptures, is a statement against oppression.
