| Abstrakt: | A reprint of the article "Stuart Saunders Smith's 'Links No. 6 (Song Interiors)," by Ron Hess, which appeared in a 2009 issue of "Perspectives of New Music" is presented. Smith used more than 40 pre-existing popular/jazz tunes and fragments as a melodic basis in writing the composition. According to the author, Smith aimed to recycle broader, form-related aspects of the piece. Unisons, seconds and thirds were said to be favored in the composition. |
