The article discusses the challenges facing Doctor Muhammad Badi' as the new leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood or Ikhwan organization. The victory of the 67-year-old veterinarian and lecturer by a majority is a record first for the organization given the fact that the change of leadership is not a result of the death of the previous leader. His election is seen as preparation for such challenges as the election. Also cited is the contention between the group and the regime over the incarceration of activists and senior members. |
