| Abstrakt: | The article features the events at the 2008 Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) Convention workshop with Steve Grimes. It offers a history of Grimes' craftsmanship and methods used in the development of his first unit of archtop guitars. Grimes also notes three essential elements involved in making low-stress guitars, such as the reduction of the downward pressure and stress on the top portion of the guitar, its thickness, and the sizes of the braces to be used. |
