Abstrakt: The article discusses a study about the challenges to the access and continuity of medication faced by the so-called dual eligible psychiatric patients during the first year of the Medicare Part D prescription drug initiative that was imposed on January 1, 2006 in the U.S. Based on physicians' report, about 43.3 % of patients failed to get access to medication refills or new drugs due to disapproval while 29% ceased taking medications because of drug coverage or copays. The patients also raised concerns on cost sharing under such drug program.
